.....the Battle of Yorktown

Chapter History

On November 7, 1921, fifteen ladies who were members at large of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, assembled at the home of Miss Marianna Barnes to perfect the organization of a chapter in Lewis County, West Virginia.  Mrs. Earle Jackson was the organizing regent and Mrs. Blanche Kurtz was appointed secretary.  Although much business was discussed, no name was chosen for the new chapter.  The meeting was adjourned.
On November 15, at the home of Mrs. Mary Neuberger, sixteen ladies met and devoted most of this meeting to organizing the still unnamed new chapter.  The results of their work were conveyed to the National Board who confirmed the appointment of Alcinda B Jackson as the new chapter's first regent and authorized the organization of the chapter dating from December 9, 1921.
On December 9, with Mrs. Jackson as regent, the new chapter met at the home of Mrs. James Ralston.  Gertrude B Edwards was elected vice regent, Blanche S. Kurtz as recording secretary, Louise M Richards as treasurer, and Emma H Ralston as registrar.  The Name "Trans-Allegheny" was unanimously chosen for the chapter and approved by the National Board on February 8, 1922.
Trans-Allegheny has met continuously since its organization.
